Description |
POSIX 2008 added a requirement for symlinks to have reliable file access times, and line 55854 requires readlink to update that timestamp. This renders a pre-existing comment in the RATIONALE obsolete. Likewise for symlink, line 65067.

At line 55912 (readlink RATIONALE), delete the sentence:
Since POSIX.1-2008 does not require any association of file times with symbolic links, there is no requirement that file times be updated by readlink( ).
At line 65129 (symlink RATIONALE), delete the paragraph:
