Interpretation response ------------------------ The standard does not speak to this issue, and as such no conformance distinction can be made between alternative implementations based on this. This is being referred to the sponsor. Rationale: ------------- The standard does not specify the behavior when open() is called with O_CREAT|O_RDONLY (or O_CREAT|O_SEARCH) on an existing directory. Additionally, some systems want to allow creation of directories using the open() function. This should be an allowed, but not required, extension.
